Date and time

Saturday, May 4, 2019 · 9am - 12pm CDT

Location

Brittlebank Park

1200 Odonnell Road Mount Vernon, IN

Description

As part of the Lilly Scholars Network Give Back INitiative, your local Lilly Endowment Community Scholars invite you to serve alongside them to help improve your community!

For Posey County we will support the Mount Vernon Parks and Recreation Department with beautification projects at Brittlebank Park from 9 AM to NOON on Saturday, May 4. Lilly scholars, family, friends and other community members are invited to participate. This is a family-friendly service event, and we will clean up trash around the park and assisting with getting the pool ready (landscaping, maybe some painting). Please dress for the weather, plan to get dirty and bring your own gloves. We'll provide the rest - including water and snacks. We'll meet at Brittlebank Pool to get our volunteer assignments before digging in.

We will be taking photos/video at this event and plan to share them via our e-newsletter, website and social media channels. We may also submit photos/videos to the local press. By signing up to volunteer, you agree to allow the Lilly Scholars Network to use your voice, name, picture and other information about you for promotional, publicity, or organizational purposes.

As Lilly scholars we are incredibly grateful for the investments our communities made in our education, and we thank you for helping us pay it forward!

Contact info for your project lead is below. We encourage you to reach out with any questions.

Organized by

Lilly Endowment created the Lilly Endowment Community Scholarship Program for the 1998-1999 school year and has supported the program every year since with tuition grants totaling in excess of $439 million. More than 5,000 Indiana students have received the Lilly Endowment Community Scholarship since the program's inception. The Lilly Endowment Community Scholarship Program is administered locally by community foundations, and statewide by the Independent Colleges of Indiana.

Now, with support from Lilly Endowment Inc., Lilly Endowment Community Scholars have the ability to connect with each other, their community and the state through the expanded, volunteer-led Lilly Scholars Network (LSN), organized to:

- Engage Lilly Endowment Community Scholars in topics and with people focused on advancing Indiana’s future.

- Inspire and equip Lilly Endowment Community Scholars to be active change makers in their communities.

- Cultivate meaningful connections.

An essential part of the LSN is a mobile community, just for Lilly Scholars, which connects scholars and alumni and helps them communicate about service and leadership development opportunities, as well as challenges facing Indiana and strategies to address them. The network also thrives on events, both in community and on campus, as well as virtual opportunities to come together to lead forward in Indiana. For current scholars, there are a number of LSN chapters on colleges and university campuses.
